A few weeks ago I applied to Thoughtbubble and today I heard back from them, Unfortunately i didn't get a spot. I was pretty gutted, mostly because a fair few of my friends had gotten spots and that was hard to congratulate them knowing that I wouldn't be exhibiting. I allowed myself a few "sad" hours before starting to look at alternatives. There a few smaller print fairs I would like to be involved in but I think I need to make more things. When I applied to thoughtbubble it was mostly with the intention of selling badges, some lino cuts and a few other pieces. On reflection I think that if I had made more stuff for them to see and had a big supply of things to delve into, I would have stood more of a chance of a spot.
Things to do in the future --- Make a small collection of zines, have LOTS of badges, maybe enamel pins? have posters! HAVE LOTS OF THINGS for people to ooh and ahh at.
I think that the lack of a website was something that really held me back here, although I'm planning on my website mostly being a portfolio, not having it up and running for people to look at it is really beginning to hold me back.
