PPP: Summative Position Statement

Where I am now,

At the moment I am comfortable with illustrating for others as well as contributing to products where my work will not be in the final outcome but will contribute strongly to the outcome. Confidence wise, I do not feel confident in sending my portfolio out to clients. I feel that it currently represents my professional side, projects that I have been paid or required to do, but it doesn’t show anything with heart in it.

Where I want to be,

I want to have a portfolio that shows personal projects, things that are important to me as an illustrator because I think it’s important to show to people that you make more than what you are paid to do. I want to continue posting to my Instagram but more frequently, more than once a day to create a bigger following. I also want to continue to make things to sell, I have enjoyed the aspect of collaborating and having things sold, so I plan to make a small set of badges, stickers and comics as part of my practice.

Goals for this coming year

Exhibit at more print shows
More reportage
More work that I want to make, something similar to illustration Friday, something I am constantly making and constantly working on.
Finding a medium and sticking to it
Talking to more professionals, I did this but I need to do more of this to strengthen my connections
Sending my portfolio to potential clients

Printing out a promo pack, postcards and stickers to send to potential clients.

but most importantly to believe and love the work I am making, just lately I have lost that but I am hoping with the end of extended practice I will be able to bring that back into my life.
