A Visual Diagram
I struggled to create this diagram, I wasn't quite sure how to go about it and in the end decided to go with a mindmap because I felt like it best reflected where I was right now. I feel like I am a seed and just starting to grow roots and hence why I decided to create a set of "roots" to show what I was feeling strong at doing and weaker at doing.
I chose Ink as the media as that's the media that I feel over my first year on the course is something that has really developed from being something I've never touched before to being something that I like working with best and have personally invested in tools for.
For professional practice I used a wave pattern near it to show that it comes in waves, with each module comes a new wave of developing my own professional practice and the waves get stronger - with only a bit of research in the first module lead to me realising that I needed more in the next module and so that "wave" became stronger over time.
For the study skills, I drew bubbles next to it to illustrate how study skills involve me needing to go into my own bubble but also how other bubbles can be close by (to not keep to myself). Within the pattern are some of my own rules to bide by when studying. The organisation skill was probably the thing that came the slowest but the most important skill I have learned on the course so far. It is also the reason the ink is black because it is a boring aspect of illustration but all good illustrators need to be organised for meetings and deadlines.
For personal development I used a pattern of flowers and leaves to show growth for myself personally. I used red and black to show that not everything was great this year but to reflect that I did learn something good out of it all. This year I feel like I learnt a lot about how to extend my view on the world through different ways I never realised before through events (like thoughtbubble, leeds armory and colours may vary) and pintrest and different alternate cinemas around leeds.
For Personal management skills, I used black diamonds as a pattern to show that they were created under pressure but are now almost solid, the black ink was also used to represent that this was another thing that I didn't particularly enjoy doing but it was neccessary. I think balancing all the different modules and still having time to do stuff I wanted to do was something I struggled with, it was always too much of one and not enough of another so that is something I want to capitalize on this coming year.
For general skills I used another diamond pattern but in a teal colour just to show how they are also now solid skills I have learnt but not as hard developed as the personal management ones.
