The reason for choosing all of these these is because I felt a strong connection to them, they all showed a really strong storyline narrative and an interesting choice of composition in all of them. They relate to my work in 2 ways, they are either something I am doing now in my work or something I am aiming to do in my work.
Pascal Campion - I like Pascals work because it creates a real sense of storytelling. Something that I am trying to incorporate into my work. It also has a figure in it, I am trying to get better at my figure drawing. I like the colour palette also and by looking into his work, its easy to see that colour palette and compositon is something he really considers and as a result it adds to the narrative.

Kamil Jadezak -
This piece relates to my work as I feel like it is engaging and that's something that I want my work to be. It also tells a story without having to use any type which is a skill I want to develop.

Lou Taylor -
Although this is a crossover between craftmanship, I really liked this image. It's paper cuts and textures are really engaging, the colours and shapes are something Im looking to improve on within my work. Sometimes my work is too complicated but Lou makes her work really simple and effective by using clean cut shapes and a well considered design.
Richard Perez -
This is my favourite narrative image so far, I think it has a really good sense of both colour palette and placement. The composition element is something that I want to emphasise in my work and I want to further my understanding of foreground, midground and background. It is also a crossover into the emotional response section for me because I think the sense of atmosphere created in the image resonates with me.

Emotional response
Rebecca Mock - I really liked her pieces of work and she is one of my bookmarked artists after I found her on pintrest. I thought it was interesting how she turned something from a flat 2D to something that moved, it provokes an emotional response as it is almost like a small moment captured. Even through the smallest of actions like a candle light or a ceiling fan moving. This kind of atmosphere is something that I aspire my work to have.
Andrea De Santis - I liked this work for a variety of reasons, One being that it is more to it then first glance. They have different meanings depending on how you look at it and are thinking about it. I like the way it looks textured but in fact was made in illustrator and photoshop. It is relevant to my practice as it is something I am interested in doing (making work digitally but with a texture and purpose).

Howard Tangye -
This is relevant to my practice as it shows the useage of more than one media and a certain amount of experimentation to it. I really love the use of structured considered line with the combination of colours, it's something that I am going to focus on doing more over the holidays. It also strikes an response in me because its not a whole picture and my brain is thinking about it as I am looking at it.
Laura Callahan -
This is a practicioner we have looked at before but I found her again on pintrest, I really enjoy her take on the world, I like how she takes everyday situations and turns them into something illustrative and visually stimulating. This is relevant to my practice as at the moment I am focusing on drawing things that are close to me but trying to give my own spin on them. I also like her use of media and although she probably did edit this in photoshop, the time and effort she put into this piece is very prominent.
Nina Cosford -
This is another one of my favourite illustrators that I also found on Pintrest. I love her use of media and the composition she uses in her pieces. She is relevant to my practice as she captures moments and creates a great sense of atmosphere. Whenever I am looking through her work I am always very connected to it and I think that it is something I will be trying to do more with my artwork throughout the year. I also love her use of hand written type in her work, which is something I have been encorporating more into my work since finding her.
Craftsmanship
Hanikrishnan Panicker + Deepti Nair - Shadow boxes
After finding the images on pintrest I was so amazed that I researched more and found the video below, showing how these two artists created something really visual and illustrative.
When I saw the work, not only did I feel an emotional response to the images they created but I also was very impressed by the craftsmanship that went into creating the pieces. They have an awful lot of planning involved in the making of the pieces and this is something I want to take from them and implement into my own practice. Also the consideration of background, foreground and midground is strong and well thought out. You can see in the video the different sorts of decisions they make and I found it really helpful to see that a final piece is not just made it is thought, developed, made, made again and then made to satisfaction before it is a final piece.

Lorraine Loots -
When I found her on pintrest I saved the image but then I went to look into the illustrator herself. She does a project called 365 postcards for ants and that is where her work originated from before she started developing it after it had caught the media attention. What I really loved about her work was the scale and accuracy of her work, although I do not plan to make work quite that small it was really interesting to find out what different tools she used and what lead her to making the decisions she did. Each illustration she makes is around a 2p piece and i thought it took a lot of time and consideration to make them as neat and as well composed.

Greg Coulton -
Although not directly illustration, Greg's typography work I thought was very illustrative and the more I looked into it the more I wanted to practice on my own typography. His actual illustrations are something that I personally find boring as they are just line lead but his typography is something that is well considered and crafted. Also looking at his work gave me a good idea of what kind of media to buy to attempt something similar.
Composition/ Concept
Sophie Rambert - Although her work is not strong in composition in the way of backgrounds and foregrounds, I think that the way she places complex or line work on a page is really interesting. I also think her viewpoints capture the attention. They also a great sense of isolation and loneliness. It's a really strong way of potraying her characters, if she had backgrounds in either I think they would be weaker as images. The thought that went into them is evident. Her work is relevant to my practice as I am currently trying to work on my anatomy and Sophie's work shows how you can represent a human figure through actual shading or just through simple linework and still maintain the atmposphere and consideration.

Yosuke Goda -
I picked this illustrator and was stuck between craftsmanship and concept but decided with concept in the end. Yosuke Goda created a whole room with a pattern of swirls and forestry like illustration in order for her audience to walk in and get lost in, getting lost in a illustrative forest. I think that it is a really strong concept to have and well carried out through the careful consideration of composition as she was creating the whole room.
Texture/media
Pablo S Herroero -
I chose this from pintrest as I really liked the individuality of it, its done using ink, etching and burning on the paper. I thought it was a really interesting take on something familiar (flower press). It's very stimulating visually to look at it, and I have been practicing something similar but it is very hard to get the stock of the paper right to match the use of a lighter.

Lieke van de Vorst -
I really liked the artist just because the use of texture and medium throughout their work added strongly to the tone of the work and suited it really nicely. Because she has mastered her medium so well she can now transfer it to other mediums and produces mugs and stickers with her work on. This is something that I aspire to do in my own work, finding a media that really suits my work.
